395.00

Part of the artist’s ongoing Mnemosyne Greek Mythology series.

The Kerynitian Hind was a golden-antlered deer sacred to the goddess Artemis. As one of his great Labors, Hercules was challenged to catch it without killing it. He tracked and pursued it for a year, finally catching it at the shore of a river where it paused to drink.

Oil painting on illustration board, 4x5 inches. Antlers are glazed with metallic gold mica pigment. Varnished and framed in an ornate vintage wooden frame (outer dimensions of frame just under 7x8 inches).
